International Research-to-Practice Conference "Constitutional Principles of Local Self-Government and EU Regional Policy"


On April 24, 2020, the online International Research-to-Practice Conference "Constitutional Principles of Local Self-Government and EU Regional Policy" took place in the framework of the Jean Monnet Module project “European Standards of Local Self-Government and Regional Policy”, (European Standards of Local Self-Government and EU Regional Policy № 611631-EPP-1-2019-1-UA-EPPJMO-MODULE), which is being implemented at Karazin University School of Law.

The conference was attended by more than 70 specialists, including 14 doctors of sciences and 54 PhDs from more than 20 educational and scientific institutions of Ukraine, as well as local government officials, young researchers.

The conference worked in five thematic areas: "Historical and theoretical foundations of regionalization", "European governance and regionalism in the political and legal dimension", "Regionalization in the aspect of European standards of local self-government", “Local self-government in the EU’s multi-level governance system: constitutional principles and practice of implementation”, “Public-law and private-law aspects of implementing local self-government and EU regional policy". 

The participants of the conference expressed their vision of regionalization within the framework of the decentralization reform launched in Ukraine, discussed its content and main directions, taking into account the EU regional policy and the experience of the member states of this integration entity. The materials of the conference will be published in a collection of abstracts and in the repository of Karazin University.
