"Faster, Higher, Stronger — Together": a Sports Holiday at the University

Karazin University has held a sports holiday dedicated to the Day of Physical Culture and Sports of Ukraine.

During the event, sports locations were organized for tennis, table tennis, archery, boxing, kickboxing, football, volleyball, cheerleading, badminton, and fencing. Everyone wishing could try themselves in these sports and get souvenirs for participation.

Volodymyr Temchenko, Head of the Department of Physical Training and Sports, congratulated everyone, encouraging them to try their hand at the presented sports: “Sound mind in a sound body! Physical education and sports help to better master knowledge, improve memory and concentration. Learning should be combined and harmoniously balanced with physical activity. This is facilitated by Karazin University sports infrastrucure throughout the entire period of study."

"Sport is my life. From the age of seven I‘ve been doing gymnastics. Later, after the university, I started teaching at Karazin University Department of Physical Training and Sports, where I have been working for 36 years,” shared Nadiia Avdaseva, a Senior Instructor of the Department of Physical Training and Sports, coach of the University's cheerleading team. "Sport is important for everyone because it gives a sense of drive, pride and a shared team spirit, because a team is a family." It is under the guidance of Nadiia Volodymyrivna that students have repeatedly won the highest awards at the championships of Ukraine, Europe and the world.

Anastasiia Aleksieieva, a student of the School of Mathematics and Computer Sciences, said that at Karazin University she manages to successfully combine study and training: “Sport takes up almost half of my life. In the morning I'm at the University, and in the evening I train, and I have time not only for my own training. For me, sport is a moral rest after university studies, my source of pleasure, happiness and inspiration."

Olena Kovtun, Associate Professor of the Department of Physical Training and Sports, noted that everyone at the University can choose an athletic section for themselves: "At the University, students can receive professional sports training in a variety of areas, in particular because the Department has high-level instructors who can and want to give their knowledge and experience to students." Olena Valeriivna also told about her own sports career, including her participation in the Olympic Games in Seoul and Sydney. "My whole life is connected with sports, so for me sport is health, friendship and pleasure. And participation in the Olympic Games will forever be remembered, because performing for one's country and living up to expectations is the highest pride for every athlete."

During the event, interesting master classes were held by the Olympic Games participants: Tetiana Perebyinis (tennis), Viktoriia Koval and Viktor Halaziuk (archery), Olena Kovtun (table tennis) — and the Champion of the 2020 Paralympics Maryna Lytovchenko (table tennis).

We remind you that every student can choose a sport according to their own preferences. You can register for classes here.
