People's Artist of Ukraine, University Graduate Maria Burmaka Visited Karazin University

On September 8, 2021, the People's Artist of Ukraine, the University graduate, Maria Burmaka visited Karazin University.

During the visit, she met with the University President, Tetyana Kaganovska. In particular, they discussed the prospects of joint projects related to the promotion of the Ukrainian language and culture.

Also on this day, the singer’s musical and poetic evening took place, where she presented the "Favorite Classics" project.

"Today, a graduate of our University visited us. We are incredibly proud of your talent, which is known far beyond our country. You create songs, you represent our Ukrainian culture. And the songs that you sing, whether modern or folk, fascinate and unite people. Because you are not indifferent to the present of our native land. Your work is a source of Ukrainian culture, and your activity gives an opportunity to fall in love with Ukraine and show it to the world. Thank you very much for that," said Tetyana Kaganovska.

Maria Burmaka together with guitarist Hennadii Bondar performed musical compositions with lyrics by classics of the Ukrainian poetry, among them were "I Don't Care If I Will...", "Oh, the Gray Geese Honked..." by Taras Shevchenko, "Autumn" by Yakov Shchoholiv, "Stonemasons" by Ivan Franko, "Cherries, Black Cherries" by Lesya Ukrainka, "Roses and Grapes" by Maksym Rylskyi, "In Memory of Thirty" by Pavlo Tychyna, "If We Wept" by Oleksandr Oles, "Come Back to Me, My Memory" Vasyl Stus, and others.

Before each song, Maria told the audience about the authors of the poems, their destinies. She presented poets as ordinary people who loved and suffered, were disappointed and dreamed, made mistakes, hoped, made plans.
