Karazin University Became Partner of Erasmus+ Project “Foreign Language Teacher Training Capacity Development as a Way to Ukraine’s Multilingual Education and European Integration” (MultiEd)


Karazin University has become partner of the Erasmus+ KA2 project “Foreign Language Teacher Training Capacity Development as a Way to Ukraine’s Multilingual Education and European Integration”.

Project duration: 15 November 2019 – 14 November 2022.

Project goals are: education (updating the Curriculum of Teacher of Foreign Languages and launching new methods of teaching), internationalization, life-long learning.

Partnership: University of Tartu (Estonia), Heidelberg University, Germany, Aston University, UK, Interlink Academy, Germany (NGO), Zaporizhzhia National University, V. O. Sukhomlinskyi Mykolaiv National University, Bohdan Khmelnytsky National University of Cherkasy, Poltava National Pedagogical University, V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University, Horlivka Institute of Foreign Languages, Ternopil Volodymur Hnatiuk National Pedagogical University, Ivano-Frankivsk National University, Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, Teacher Association “TESOL-Ukraine” (NHO).

Project stages:

— updating BA and MA Teacher of Foreign Languages programs (English)" based on the European Qualifications Framework. Development of recommendations for topics and subjects of the program both in accordance with the legislation of Ukraine and EU standards;

— adaptation and introduction of advanced methods of teaching foreign languages into the educational process in Ukraine, including interactive methods, student-centered learning, communication methods, CLIL methodology (integrated subject and foreign language learning) and updating program subjects by implementing these methods;

— universities introduce elective courses in English for BA, MA, PhD students, including “Introduction to CLIL Methodology”, “CLIL Methodology”, “Foreign Language Teaching”, “Cultural Anthropology and Linguistic Diversity” , “Research and Academic Writing”, “Media Literacy”;

— universities develop their own strategy for multilingual education and offer students certain subjects in English in order to train highly qualified graduates who are fluent in English, and to increase the level of internationalization of partner universities and the potential of higher education in general;

— popularization of ideas of blended and lifelong learning among teachers, which will be provided by free seminars with the participation of European experts in different regions of Ukraine, as well as the development of an e-course for teachers to improve their skills in “CLIL Methodology”.
