Karazin University Open House Day


Karazin University has held its traditional Open House Day, during which applicants learned more about the University’s activities, met with its administration, deans, heads of departments, students, representatives of the Admissions Committee, and immersed themselves in the atmosphere of the world-class progressive and powerful higher education institution.

From the very morning, Karazin University warmly welcomed the visitors: in the lobby, everyone wishing could take a memorable selfie near a thematic photozone, get acquainted with scientific developments of the University’s scientists. The representatives of the University schools, educational and research institutes prepared presentation stands, an interactive program that helped the guests to know in more detail what future students would be engaged in during their studies. At the briefings with representatives of the Admissions Committee and student self-government, everyone willing could ask a question on the peculiarities of the Admissions Campaign 2020 and studying at the University.

The University President, Vil Bakirov, welcomed those present: “Karazin University is the oldest university in Ukraine. It recently turned 215 years old. Thanks to the University, science, education, culture, Kharkiv became a European, vibrant, powerful metropolis the way we see it today. Many eminent people, including Nobel Prize winners, whose monuments are placed at the entrance to the University, have studied and worked here. About 17,000 students, many of them from abroad, are currently studying at the University. We actually offer young people the whole spectrum of modern classical university education: from psychology to space radiophysics, from classical philology to biotechnology, medicine, etc.”

He added that Karazin University gives an opportunity to develop in five areas: professional, scientific, artistic and aesthetic (choir, groups of artistic creativity, theater, museums, interest groups), sports (availability of a strong sports infrastructure), managerial (participation in student self-government) .

Karazin University students Oleh Ivashtenko (Educational and Research institute “School of Physics and Technology”), Kostiantyn Midlovets (School of Biology), Dina Kotelina (School of Psychology), Deputy Head of the University Student Council Viktor Chumakov shared their motives for entering the University and tips on how to make a decision about a major and an institution of higher education.

The Executive Secretary of the Admissions Committee, Olha Anoshchenko, outlined the stages of the Admissions Campaign 2020, the specifics of enrollment, etc.

The Director of the Center for Public Relations, Maksym Folomieiev, presented a specialized website for applicants Admissions that contains all the necessary information: Admission Rules with all appendices, abstracts of educational programs with a list of entrance examinations and subjects of External Independent Assessment, EIA Calculator and answers to frequently asked questions.

At the end of the official part, those present enjoyed performances of the University cheerleading team.

The event continued with meetings of deans and schools’ representatives with applicants, during which those present had an opportunity to ask about the peculiarities of various specialties, the educational process, job prospects, etc.
