Karazin University School of Medicine Plans to Open Medical Training Simulation Center

On September 17, 2019, University President, Vil Bakirov, held a visiting meeting on opening a simulation center for medical training at the School of Medicine (rooms 633-640, 6th floor, University Northern Building, 6 Svobody Sq). The event was also attended by Dean of the School of Medicine, Ihor Belozorov; Vice-President for Administrative Affairs, Volodymyr Pakharenko; Vice-President for Economic and Social Affairs, Anatolii Udod; Chief Engineer, Mykola Nomerovchenko, and others.

During the meeting, those present discussed the issues of repair works and supply of equipment for the medical training simulation center.

The work on the center is to be completed by January 29, 2020. The opening will be dedicated to the 215th anniversary of founding Kharkiv University and the School of Medicine, which has been a part of the University since its creation.

Ukraine has not yet had such large-scale centers with state-of-the-art equipment and level of training instructors.

It simulates in detail the operation of a hospital in accordance with modern standards. There are emergency department, trauma shock room, labor delivery room with neonatal and pediatric units, surgical operating unit, room with Simbionix simulators, and many more.

For teaching practical skills, the center uses various modern mannikins and workstations of leading simulation equipment manufacturers “Ambu”, “Gaumard”, “Simbionix”, “Simulab”, etc.

Initially, the training will focus on the acquisition of basic and most common modern medical manipulations, and further it will contain all levels of emergency care, bringing Ukrainian medicine closer to the standards of such world-renowned organizations as European Resuscitation Council, American College of Surgeons, National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians.

The University fruitfully cooperates with various organizations: All-Ukrainian Resuscitation Council and Surgical Club “Cor Fortis” — their representatives are qualified instructors who have successfully completed simulation courses abroad and conduct such courses in Kharkiv.

The Medical Training Simulation Center will be open for medical interns, graduate students, scientists, medical students, and healthcare professionals. There, they will be able to acquire new skills and improve their qualifications.

The Center staff undergoes training in Ukraine and abroad and is ready to receive its first students in 2020.
