Conference of Karazin University Employees

V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University has held its traditional Conference of Employees summing up the results of the 2018/2019 academic year and outlining tasks for the new 2019/2020 academic year.

The Presidium comprised the University President, Vil Bakirov, Vice-President Volodymyr Pakharenko, Head of the Primary Trade Union Organization, Oleh Tyrnov, Head of the Primary Trade Union Organization of undergraduate and postgraduate students, Serhii Makhnovskyi, Dean of the School of Psychology, Nadiia Kreidun, Head of the Student Council, Daniela Daas, with Oleh Tyrnov presiding.

At the beginning, Vil Bakirov reported on the results of the 2018/2019 academic year and tasks for the 2019/2020 academic year. In his speech, he described the state of modern Ukrainian higher education and noted that in most fields Karazin University demonstrates high quality of education: its students win at the most prestigious tournaments, its graduates occupy high positions in Western universities, international research centers, diplomatic institutions, intergovernmental organizations, etc. According to him, this year, the number of state-ordered places for Bachelor’s program at Karazin University somewhat increased compared to the previous year.

Vil Bakirov also noted that priority tasks for the 2019/2020 academic year are directly related to the implementation of Karazin University Development Strategy 2019-2025 and deal with the improvement of the University science, educational activity, infrastructure, management, etc.

In the framework of discussing the University President’s report, presentations were made by Vice-President Anton Panteleimonov, Head of the Education Quality Management, Liudmyla Ivanenko, Dean of the School of Mathematics and Computer Sciences, Hryhorii Zholtkevych, Director of the University Museum of Nature, Rostyslav Luniachek, Professor of the Department of Zoology and Animal Ecology of the School of Biology Dmytro Shabanov.

Anton Panteleimonov focused on new forms of learning being implemented at Karazin University, in particular life-long education: the Institute for Post-Qualifying Education and Part-Time (Distance) Learning, Minor Karazin University, where children can study from the age 5, linguistic courses at the School of Foreign Languages, etc. conduct their activities.

Liudmyla Ivanenko emphasized that from September 1, 2019, the University would be accredited for educational programs in accordance with the new provision and characterized the main innovations of this document. According to her, it provides for a fundamentally different approach to the procedure, which aims to make the accreditation process more transparent, honest, partner-oriented and aimed not only at formal certification, but at real assistance in ensuring the quality of the accredited educational program.
