Karazin University Becomes One of the Locations for Biennale of Young Art

Karazin University has become a strategic partner of Biennale of Young Art to be held in September 2019 in Kharkiv. The Institute of Astronomy and the University Botanical Garden were chosen as the locations of the exhibition project.

Viktoriia Bronza, coordinator of the biennale major program, and Ivanna Skyba-Yakubova, PR Director, discussed the cooperation within the art project with Vadym Kaidash, Director of the Institute of Astronomy, engineer Mariia Stepaniuk, and researcher Ivan Sliusarev.

Vadym Kaidash explained that artists and scientists are trying to maintain the connection between art and science, because this is the prospect of the country’s development.

For his part, Ivan Sliusarev commented on the combination of art and astronomy, “Scientists are usually smart people who are interested not only in their profession, but also in many art forms. Personally, I am interested in painting in different directions: from early Dutch painting to avant-garde.”

During the meeting, Mariia Stepaniuk recalled the connection of the artist Leonardo da Vinci with science and inventions, as well as about Karazin Mega Event that took place in May this year.

For reference. Biennale of Young Art is one of the largest artistic events in Ukraine (the first in the Top 10 cultural events 2019 according to the Ministry of Culture), designed to demonstrate the state of contemporary Ukrainian art, to raise relevant issues and topics of the society. Biennale, founded by the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine, was held for the first time in 2017 in Kyiv at the museum complex Mystetskyi Arsenal and the National Art Museum of Ukraine. Kharkiv became the second city where biennale will be held.
