The School of Economics at V.N. Karazin Kharkiv National University was founded in 1933. Today it is a major center for academic training, methodology, and research. Among the School’s faculty are over 100 full professors, associate professors, and lecturers. It enrolls about 3,000 full-time and part-time (correspondence) students and about 50 post-graduate students. The training process is enriched by lectures of top officials from the Ministries, local administration agencies, the leading banks and companies of Kharkiv, and by prominent professors from other countries.
The School’s graduates work as economists, financial experts, state employees, book-keepers, programmers, analysts, and auditors in institutions of the Ministry of Economics, the Ministry of Finance, and the State Statistics Committee; in banks; in planning, financial and accounting departments of various enterprises; in internal revenue services; at universities and colleges as lecturers of Economics and related subjects.
The School provides full-time and part-time (correspondence) training and a second university degree program. Students of other Schools of the University and other higher educational establishments can receive the so-called “parallel training” to obtain a university degree in Economics and Management.
The School provides opportunities for obtaining bachelor’s and master’s degrees. To obtain a degree in Economics and Management young specialists can also take an accelerated course.
The following core subjects are taught at the School: Introduction to Market Economy, Micro- and Macroeconomics, Statistics, Mathematics for Economists, International Economy, Marketing, Management, Finance, Investment, Economic Analysis, Insurance, etc.
The School provides the following electives: Methods of Forecasting, Macroeconomic Analysis, Financial Management, Banking Operations, Economic Risks, Foreign Languages for Businessmen, etc.
The School hosts 2 specialized councils for conferring doctor’s degrees in Economic Theory, Finance, Money Circulation and Credit, Organization of Economic Management, Planning and Regulation.
