Founded in 2007, the School of Ecology provides training in Ecology, Conservation, and Balanced Environmental Management and offers bachelor’s, specialist’s, and master’s degree opportunities in cooperation with the Schools of Chemistry, Biology, Geology and Geography, the Institute of High Technologies, and other partners.
Training is provided in the full-time, part-time, and distance modes. Full-time training program covers 5 years. After 4 years of training, students obtain bachelor’s degrees, and after another year of study – master’s degrees.
Part-time and distance training require 5 years of training to obtain bachelor’s degree and another year – to be licensed as a master. Graduate students can volunteer to have their master’s training according to the master’s curricula of the cooperating Schools.
The School offers the following major opportunities: Ecology and Environmental Conservation; Applied Ecology; Ecological Safety and Balanced Nature Management; Environmental Economy and Nature Management; and Ecological Audit.
The School conducts research in the following areas: ecological safety; the effect of environmental pollution on foodstaff quality; soil ecology; assessment of the natural resources of the Kharkiv Region; landscape ecology; radiogeography; ecological education and training; ecological expert analysis; ecological management and audit; management of ecological activities; and prevention and elimination of emergences.
The School comprises the Department of Ecology and Neo-Ecology; the Department of Ecological Safety and Ecological Education; and the Department of Monitoring, Nature Management, and Prevention of Emergences.
The School has its sections in the leading research institutes, including the National Research Center the O.N. Sokolovskyi Institute of Soil Science and Agricultural Chemistry, the Ukrainian Research Institute of Ecological Problems, and others.
