Practice Conference “Supervision as an Instrument of Professional Development of Specialists Working with Psychic Trauma”

Karazin University held the practice conference “Supervision as an Instrument of Professional Development of Specialists Working with Psychic Trauma”. The conference was attended by experts from different regions of Ukraine and Latvia.

At the beginning, the Head of the Department of Psychiatry, Narcology, Neurology and Medical Psychology of the School of Medicine, Volodymyr Ponomarev, welcomed those present and said that it had already become the School’s tradition to hold practice seminars where science practitioners can exchange their experience.

The conference purpose is to provide professional assistance to specialists working with psychic trauma, to promote the implementation of theoretical concepts, techniques and methods of supervision.

The Associate Professor of the Department of Psychiatry, Narcology, Neurology and Medical Psychology of the School of Medicine Diana Shtryhol said the conference involves various kinds of work: lectures, discussions, rountables, meetings, workshops, work in small groups, etc.

"It is thanks to this exhchange, joint work on specific cases of specific people that we develop our professional skills, share experience, thus preparing to develop a new specialization — supervision," she said.

“As I see it, this event is a continuation of collaboration between professionals in their fields — psychiatry, narcology, social work. For me, the topic of supervision is very important. I helped to develop this profession in Latvia. This is a good method that can help professionals avoid burnout and develop in their professional activities,” said the member of the Association of National Organizations for Supervision in Europe (ANSE) Inese Stankus-Visa (Lithuania).
