Presentation of Projects Implemented at Karazin University in 2018 with Support from the Consulate General of the Republic of Poland in Kharkiv


Karazin University held a presentation of projects implemented at the University in 2018, with support from the Consulate General of the Republic of Poland in Kharkiv. The event took place with the participation of the Consul General of the Republic of Poland in Kharkiv Janusz Jablonski, the Director of the Department for Improvement of Regional Competitiveness of Kharkiv Regional State Administration, Nadiia Kryvytska, the Head of the Department of International Relations and Presentation of Kharkiv Regional Council, Marharyta Kamasa, the Deputy Director of the Department of Science and Education of Kharkiv Regional State Administration, Head of the Office of Education and Science, Volodymyr Ihnatiev, the Director of the Department for International Cooperation of Kharkiv City Council, Viktor Rud, the University President, Vil Bakirov, and others.

Vil Bakirov welcomed those present and said that Karazin University has a wide range of international cooperation, and the relations with Polish colleagues are the strongest and most substantive.

“Our relations have a long history. The Polish people in Kharkiv united into a single community quite a long time ago, back in the XIX century, immediately after the opening of Kharkiv University. By the way, it is known that its first patron was a Pole — Severyn Pototsky. The Poles made a significant contribution to the history of the University and Kharkiv in general,” said the University President.

The Director of the Ukrainian-Polish Academic Center for Science and Culture, Associate Professor Tetiana Bitkova presented the projects implemented at the University in 2018 with the support from the Consulate General of the Republic of Poland in Kharkiv. In particular, steps were taken to sign agreements with Polish universities and research institutions, to hold international conferences and roundtables, to implement cultural and educational projects, printing events, etc.

Tetiana Bitkova stressed that in 2018, about 90 representatives from 33 Polish universities and organizations visited Karazin University, 16 research conferences and roundtables with the participation of Polish scientists took place.

There was also held a presentation of the monograph by L. Yanovskyi “Kharkiv University in its Early Days” and of the publication “The Poles on the Map of Kharkiv”, the purpose of which was to open and present Kharkiv to Poland.
