Karazin University Signs a Memorandum of Cooperation with the Public Union “East-West Foundation”
Karazin University and the Public Union “East-West Foundation” have signed a memorandum of cooperation.
The event was attended by the University President, Vil Bakirov, the Head of the Public Union “East-West Foundation”, Volodymyr Kosenko, the Director of the Department of Education and Science of Kharkiv State Regional Administration, Larysa Karpova, the Director of Kharkiv Regional Foundation for Supporting Entrepreneurs, Kseniia Merkulova, the Head of the Public Council of Kharkiv State Regional Administration, Oleksii Kurtsev, and others.
The event moderator was Volodymyr Shlokin, Director of the University Innovation Center.
“We are going to take a serious step — to sign a memorandum of cooperation in the fields of development, support of high technologies and science. The University needs such external cooperation, because we have many ideas and projects that can be implemented jointly with private companies and enterprises”, pointed out Mr. Bakirov at the beginning of the event.
Mr. Bakirov also spoke about the University, particularly the Nobel Prize laureates, scientific achievements, international cooperation and provided the statistical data.
Mr. Kosenko also noted that in the near future within the framework of the project it is planned to organize a conference with the participation of young scientists and students in order to discuss the University’s scientific developments, “It is very important that young scientists not go abroad, but stay in their country, for this project is long-term.”
The essence of the project consists in creating mini clusters, where the students will learn to solve the applied tasks and to conduct research for business needs. The students will be able to implement the results of their work and research into active business projects, as well as use them in their diploma and Master’s papers, PhD and doctoral theses.
“Kharkiv region has small and medium business support programs. We are cooperating with many organizations and enterprises, so we are interested in developing such projects”, noted Ms. Merkulova.
Ms. Karpova also expressed her hope for successful cooperation and told those present about other implemented innovative projects in the field of education and science, which were supported by Kharkiv State Regional Administration.
“Currently, the process legitimization is taking place with business companies, public authorities, public organizations and representatives of the scientific field involved in. We take solidary responsibility for the projects that we will create together with you”, said Mr. Kurtsev.
Mykhailo Maksymov, the Head of the Research Society of Undergraduate, Postgraduate and Doctoral Students and Young Scientists of Karazin University, pointed out that within the framework of the project there would be a socialization of the University, an opportunity for young scientists to realize their scientific potential in practice and receive a decent wage for it.
Eduard Naboka, the Executive Director of the Regional Division of the Ukrainian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs ended up a series of speeches by emphasizing the problem that many promising scientists go abroad, “Creating such projects is the support for young people and an incentive to stay in the country. I consider today’s event as one more step towards creating a strategy for encouraging young scientists.”
In the second part of the event, Mr. Bakirov and Mr. Kosenko signed a memorandum of cooperation between Karazin University and the Public Union “East-West Foundation”.
