Karazin University Students Evaluate Applications for Global Teacher Prize Ukraine

In August 2017, the students of different Karazin University schools participated in the evaluation of the applications submitted for the Global Teacher Prize Ukraine. The organizer of the first Ukrainian contest was the Osvitoria Public Association.

“The purpose of the Prize is to mark the teachers’ achievements in relation to both their students and society. The introduction of the Prize in Ukraine aims at attracting public attention to the importance of education and the contribution made by the educators to the future of our country and the world,” said the competition coordinator from the Osvitoria, co-founder of the Kid’IT project and the Vihvam family space Nadiia Andrushchenko, who provided methodological assistance in evaluation of the applications.

In total, there were more than 500 applications submitted, and each was evaluated by three Ukrainian higher educational institutions in accordance with the procedure developed by the Osvitoria in cooperation with an audit company. The results of the evaluation will determine the top 50 participants, out of which the expert group will select 20 finalists. The Global Teacher Prize Ukraine winner will be announced in October 2017.

Karazin University students’ participation in the evaluation is both an important experience and a responsible mission, because the competition results directly depend on their ability to analyze information.
