International Barcamp "Karazin University Media Symposium"

Karazin University is pleased to invite everyone interested to take part in the International Barcamp “Karazin University Media Symposium”, its main theme being a “personal view” as a subject of interdisciplinary research.

Organizer: Center for Media Communications and Visual Studies of the School of Sociology.

Working languages: Ukrainian, Russian, English, German.

Media symosium focus areas:

— journalism during the war: “personal view” versus objectivity;

— information wars and fact-checkings: “personal view” in the era of post-truth;

— “personal view” as an author’s position: between conformism and protest;

— “personal view” and/or freedom of speech: the limits of political correctness;

— “personal view” as a challenge: escape lines and disagreement distances;

— alternative “personal view”: dangers and risks;

— optics of subjectivity: the choice of “personal view” in visual media;

— “personal view” in the performative practices of contemporary art.

Discussions will take place in the form of a roundtable, skype sessions and multimedia presentations. The participants will enjoy a literary and musical performance, film show, photo art exhibition, and other interesting events. To participate, you should register.
