Opening of Exhibition of Works by Participants of Artistic Residence at Yermilov Center

The Yermilov Modern Art Center of V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University is holding the opening of the unique exhibition, which is the result of the international summer artistic residence. The opening will be held within the framework of the SWAP project: UK/Ukraine Artist Residency Programme of the British Council in Ukraine.

Within two weeks, the participants of the artistic residence worked on creating their own and joint projects on the topic “Imagery Identity: To Have or To Be?” at the Yermilov Center. Twelve young artists from Ukraine, particularly Polina Karpova, Olha Fedorova, Bela Lohacheva, Iryna Kudria, Nina Murashkina, Hanna Shumska, Nataliia Tarnai, Andrii Dostlev, as well as the director Sibylla Tuxen from Denmark, the sculptor and writer Kate Robinson from Scotland, the artist Kyung Hwa Shon from South Korea were seeking answers to the following questions: “What is the Mechanism of Identification and Self-identification?”, “Do our Imaginary Identities have the Same Values as the True?”, “Identity as Authority and Protection”, “Identity as an Excuse”.

During the opening, there will take place a performance by Nina Murashkina.

Beginning: at 6:00 PM, on September 7, 2017.

Venue: Modern Art Center Yermilov, University Northern Building, 4, Svobody Sq. (entrance from the side of the Passionariya’s descent)

Admission is free.
